My keyboard has way way to many keys. Some of them are mapped into event numbers that are over 0×100 and the Xorg evdev drivers considers those to be mouse buttons.. Which is obviously wrong. After a little digging, I found the problem and I have a patch. I also decide I wanted my old behavior to the windows key back, that is, having it as Mod4 and nothing else, so I made another kinda patch. And now, for the first time since I bought that MX3100 crap, I have everything working the way it should!

this seems really interesting. I’m using ubuntu (edgy) with a mx3100 combo. I got my mouse working properly but the keyboard’s multimedia buttons aren’t working anymore.
How do I use your patch to solve this? Is this something that has to be applied to the source of evdev and then I have to compile evdev myself or what?
Thanks

Yes, just apply the patch to the evdev package and rebuild it and they should show up as keyboard buttons instead of mouse buttons.
